Computed Tomography Angiography

Computed Tomography Angiography (CTA) is a non-invasive procedure that uses x-rays to visualize blood flow in arteries and veins. CTA requires the use of intravenously administered contrast material and a high-resolution, high-speed CT machine. A CTA checks for stenosis (clogging of the vessels), aneurysms (ballooning of the vessels), thrombosis (clots), and other vascular problems. CTA is a special technique of CT which allows the radiologist to review vessels in different anatomical planes. A more accurate image can be acquired from these planes, which helps gain a better perspective for the radiologist's interpretation.
